02 - Place apple slices in the Instant Pot insert. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt evenly over the top.
03 - Drizzle maple syrup or honey over the apples, then add the water or apple juice to help create steam and prevent sticking.
04 - Distribute the butter pieces evenly across the surface of the apples.
05 - Secure the lid and set the steam release handle to sealing. Cook on HIGH pressure for 2 minutes.
06 - Allow the pressure to release naturally for 3 minutes, then carefully quick-release any remaining pressure.
07 - Open the lid and stir in vanilla extract. For a thicker sauce, select Sauté mode and simmer 2-3 minutes, stirring gently. Serve warm over oatmeal, pancakes, or ice cream.
