01 - 6 slices white or whole wheat sandwich bread

→ Protein

02 - 6 slices roasted turkey breast (about 5.5 ounces)
03 - 4 slices bacon

→ Vegetables

04 - 4 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce
05 - 2 medium tomatoes, sliced

→ Condiments & Dairy

06 - 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

# How To Make It:

01 - Toast the bread slices until golden and crisp. Butter lightly if desired.
02 - Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess fat.
03 - Lay out all six slices of toasted bread. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice.
04 - Place lettuce and tomato slices on two bread slices, season lightly with salt and pepper, and top with two slices of turkey each.
05 - Add a second slice of bread (mayonnaise side down) atop the turkey layer. Spread mayonnaise on the top of these slices.
06 - Add remaining turkey slices and bacon strips. Top with more lettuce and tomato if desired.
07 - Finish with the last two slices of bread, mayonnaise side down.
08 - Press each sandwich gently, then secure with cocktail sticks. Slice each sandwich diagonally into halves or quarters. Serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The combination of crispy bacon and tender turkey is a textural dream that hits the spot every single time.
  • It feels fancy enough for a special lunch but comes together in less than half an hour.
02 -
  • Never skip the step of toasting the bread, or you will end up with a soggy, falling apart mess on your hands.
  • Assemble the sandwich quickly after toasting so the heat slightly melts the mayo into the bread for extra flavor.
03 -
  • Spread the mayo all the way to the edges of the bread to ensure the seasoning hits every single bite.
  • Let the sliced tomatoes sit on a paper towel for a minute to absorb excess moisture before layering them.
